The Clinical Research Careers website provides all relevant information on career support, funding, mentoring programmes, and postgraduate training options in Switzerland in one place and helps medical students and young clinical researchers to navigate their way through this complex and exciting field of research.

The Clinical Research Careers website provides quick access to relevant career progression programmes and career information in Switzerland. It guides young physicians throughout their research career.

What it can do:

The Clinical Research Careers website offers:

  • short descriptions of typical career pathways
  • searchable databases with quick and centralised access to career support, funding, and mentoring programmes in addition to postgraduate training options in Switzerland
  • a complete overview of competencies needed to properly run clinical trialssuccess stories of physicians who combine research activities and clinical duties.
Who should use it:

It is mostly intended for medical students and young physicians, but much information on the website is also relevant for all clinical research professionals.

Who is behind this resource:

The Clinical Research Careers website was developed by the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS), the association of university medicine in Switzerland (unimedsuisse), and the SCTO’s Education Platform. It was launched in September 2021.

Background

Clinical Research Careers was developed as a result of the Federal Office of Public Health’s Roadmap for Developing the Next Generation of Clinical Researchers, which aims to facilitate the career progression of young clinical researchers and medical students interested in research and to promote the overarching goal of improving Switzerland’s status as a centre of biomedical research and technology.
