Accessing relevant and hands-on information on how to conduct clinical studies can be frustrating and time-consuming. Thanks to the online resource called Easy Guide to Clinical Studies (Easy GCS), you can navigate the complex world of clinical research with ease. This interactive guide provides comprehensive and concise information and guidance on how to plan and conduct your study. The tool allows you to navigate through eleven different research-relevant subjects, from learning the basics to completing your study.

Navigate the complex world of clinical research with ease

What it is:

The interactive Easy GCS provides relevant information and practical guidance on how to plan and conduct a clinical study in compliance with regulations. The current beta version contains seven complete subjects.

What it can do:

The guide is structured in six study phases from conception to completion and eleven subjects (e.g. ethics and laws, study management, quality and risk, and safety). By navigating the guide you can quickly find answers to your queries. All information is presented by answering three pertinent questions:

  • What is it and why is it important?
  • What do I need to do?
  • Where can I get help?

An answer to the last question provides you with references to relevant Swiss laws and guidelines (e.g. ICH GCP and ISO) and includes information on how to access useful tools and further professional support.

Who should use it:

The Easy GCS can be used by all research professionals – including clinical investigators and sponsor-investigators – when planning and conducting a clinical study. It can also be used by educators as a reference work to teach aspiring medical students, physician-scientists, and clinical research staff in Switzerland and beyond.

Who is behind this resource:

The Easy GCS is being developed by the SCTO’s Project Management Platform in collaboration with all other SCTO Platforms and the Swiss Biobanking Platform (SBP). A partially complete beta version of Easy GCS was first released in March 2022. The final version will be available in summer 2024.
