Education

Postgraduate education and training for clinical research professionals are crucial to the future of this field and determine the quality, value, and leanness of the research emerging from them. We need to not only polish the skills of those already qualified and active in the field of clinical research but also nurture the next generation of young clinical researchers. Composed of the leading players in clinical research education and training in Switzerland, our platform aims to turn clinical research into an attractive career path for the next generation.

Developing the next generation of clinical researchers

What we offer:

We strive to address the national challenges in clinical research education, primarily within the scope of implementing the national Roadmap 2016–2021 for Developing the Next Generation of Clinical Researchers issued by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). Linking this roadmap to the international harmonisation of skills training will bring even more benefits.

What challenges we tackle:

In their day-to-day work, clinical researchers need to balance the challenges of carrying out both their clinical duties and research. At the same time, stable positions offering consistent, dedicated research time are scarce. Moreover, there is currently no harmonised, standardised, or entirely transparent career path to follow in clinical research – which makes developing a career in this field particularly complex.

Our key projects:

Our current projects are primarily linked to implementing the FOPH’s national Roadmap 2016–2021 for Developing the Next Generation of Clinical Researchers in order to promote the overarching goal of improving Switzerland’s status as a centre of biomedical research and technology.

One of our projects aims to define a standard for core competencies in clinical research. Another project involves establishing a dedicated website that provides all relevant information to support career progression, including career support instruments, training and mentoring opportunities as well as the developed core competencies for clinical research in Switzerland.
