Data Management

The right data handling practices and infrastructure ensure that data collection in clinical research projects complies with regulations and clinical data can be efficiently retrieved and processed. We promote a common understanding of handling data across the SCTO’s CTU Network and provide data management teams with solutions on how to run affordable and high-quality databases for both academic and industrial clinical research projects.

Boosting collaboration in clinical data management

What we offer:

We promote a common understanding of how to handle clinical research data across the SCTO’s CTU Network in order to create a robust and interoperable data management network. We support the clinical research community by providing various solutions for the efficient and affordable handling of clincial research data that are in line with legal and ethical requirements.

What challenges we tackle:

Decentralised data infrastructures pose challenges for the clinical research community, namely how to agree on a unified understanding of best practices and how to create an infrastructure that allows clinical research data to be effectively collected and retrieved. We tackle these challenges within the SCTO’s CTU Network, especially in the context of multicentre trials.

Our key projects:

We set up an R statistics package to simplify working with secuTrial® data exports, the most commonly used data management system in the SCTO’s CTU Network. These R packages are publicly available to the research community worldwide.

By promoting collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between CTUs, we standardise clinical research and boost efficiency in clinical data management.
