Online safety training

Sharpen your safety skills – for the good of your research participants

What it is:

This free online safety training enables you to consolidate or refresh your knowledge of patient safety and reporting issues in clinical research. It includes two 90-minute modules:

1. Safety management in clinical trials with medicinal products, other clinical trials, and research projects not involving clinical trials
2. Safety management in clinical trials with medical devices

What it can do:

This online training will provide you with an overview of definitions, requirements, and procedures related to safety management in clinical research. Topics include:

• the legal and regulatory framework of safety reporting
• the assessment of adverse events
• documenting and reporting adverse events
• safety and protective measures
• annual safety reports

After successfully completing an online quiz, you will receive a certificate.

Who should take it:

Clinical research professionals – including study nurses, study coordinators, clinical research associates, study physicians, and assistant physicians – who would like to expand their expertise in the area of safety management from the perspective of a clinical investigator.

Who is behind this resource:

This training was jointly developed by the SCTO’s Safety Platform and its Education Platform. It was first made available in March 2020. It was prepared by the DKF Basel, in collaboration with the entire SCTO CTU Network and the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK).
