Each year, the Statistics & Methodology Platform runs a competition for statisticians in the SCTO’s CTU Network to develop codes or programmes that will ultimately help improve clinical research and bring fresh solutions to persisting difficulties. The winners of the 2023 competition are Arnaud Künzi and Vithersan Somasundaram and Katrin Gysel.
Arnaud Künzi from the CTU Bern and Vithersan Somasundaram and Katrin Gysel from the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK) won the 2023 grants for the following statistical programming packages:
Win-odds sample size tool by Arnaud Künzi
The tool aims to fill a gap of computing power and reversely the sample size required to achieve power by providing a straightforward solution integrated into stata’s power user defined function.
Publication-Ready Kaplan-Meier Plot (in R) by Vithersan Somasundaram and Katrin Gysel
The proposal is an extension of the SAKK function of survival curves. The objective is to create an open source, user-friendly and flexible survSAKK R package, which will incorporate various statistics and layout customisation options to enhance the efficiency and adaptability of the Kaplan-Meier plot.
The statistical programming competition is run by the SCTO’s Statistics & Methodology Platform.
